This could well be the best thing I’ve ever heard Exec. Sec. Ochoa say over the course of his stay in office. And the best news yet from the Office of the President.
A most welcome development aligned with the very promise of “Kung walang corrupt, walang mahirap” during the campaign period. Although this move won’t magically translate to overnight poverty eradication, it does translate to better budget management. Not to mention it sends a clear message that the days of the slacking government worker could well be nearing its end.
Finally, these agencies, most if not all of them created for the sole purpose of creating government positions on account of “utang na loob” are getting what they deserve — to never see the light of day ever again. Because quite frankly, these agencies should never have existed in the first place!
If an agency clearly duplicates other main and more significant government departments and agencies, it makes sense to abolish it. Not only will it save the government much needed money to fund far more important projects, it will also result to a leaner organizational structure translating to more efficient public service.
Abolition of these unnecessary agencies will definitely do good to the Office of the President.
Hundreds of millions of pesos funneled to these agencies for years and what have they got to show for? Their shiny cars and air-conditioned houses. Oh right, they do have ‘efforts’ in helping the needy by means of piece-meal projects — for show, for their reports — in dire effort to prove that their agency should still exist.
Sorry guys, party’s over. Move along now and find someone else to leech!
